Rzeszwskie Piwnice is an interactive cultural institution operating within the structures of Estrada Rzeszowska - the local government cultural institution of the City of Rzeszów.
The idea of the institution's operation assumes a combination and interpenetration of perspectives - historical and contemporary, as well as local and supra-regional. It is focused on the development of contemporary art in Rzeszów - the capital of the Podkarpackie Province, as well as its wide presentation, using the cultural and historical heritage of Rzeszów for the development of cultural competences and cultural education of the society.
Cultural activity is carried out in four Zones:
Zone A. Square of Culture - situated on the square of Rzeszów's Market Square
Zone B. Multifunctional space - located on level -1, directly under the Culture Square
Zone C. Rzeszowskie Piwnice - running through the underground rooms of cellars and corridors - located under the surface of the Market Square
Zone D. Virtual Lab - workshop spaces - located near the exit of Rzeszowskie Piwnice
The cultural offer of Rzeszów Cellars is addressed to a wide audience. At the heart of the concept is connection, synergy and multithreading in all aspects: generational, cultural and related to the cultural offer.
The initiative is in line with the latest trends in museology - consisting in an interdisciplinary way of presenting collections. It is also worth emphasizing that the concept of Rzeszów Cellars significantly exceeds the multimedia solutions used in Poland so far, through unconventional and innovative approach to the story of art, tradition and the history of the city and the region.
